Golden Opportunity

20130820-214341.jpg

I love gold. Which is funny because I kinda hated it when I was younger, lol. But now that I’m older I realized not only is it a pretty color, it looks great with my skin tone.

So when I went out the other night, I decided to do a slightly neutral look with a bit of gold on my eyes for a slight pop.

I also really like the Revlon Colorstay foundations. I mixed Colorstay and Colorstay Whipped together and it gave me a perfect blend. I topped that with my ELF translucent powder.

For my brows I used NYX brow pencil in Dark Brown and a bit of concealer to clean up the edges.

I used the Urban Decay Naked2 Palette on my eyes and the Milani Colorstay lipstick in Teddy Bare.

I mist my face before and after with Urban Decay All Nighter Spray. Well beauties I hope you are enjoying your week.

July Favorites

Hello dolls, so I haven’t done a monthly favorites for the blog so I figured why not now? I didn’t have many this month because I’ve been trying to give my face a break and I haven’t really been makeup shopping in awhile. (What has the world come to lol?) But the products that I have been pretty consistently using I thought I would post my most used, favorite ones for the month of July.

20130807-201640.jpg

I have been hearing about the Revlon Colorstay foundation and I have the Revlon Colorstay Whipped foundation which is great but I’ve been using my Kat Von D which I’m in love with btw for so long that I never gave it a second thought. I was going out somewhere one night and didn’t have time to go home so I stopped at the Walmart and decided to grab that one. To my surprise it’s a really great foundation and I’ve been using it for the past 2 months. It’s usually the one I grab for when I’m getting ready. Great coverage and finish and paired with my ELF translucent powder I don’t have to touch up my face during the day.

20130807-203415.jpg

I’ve also really been loving the ELF studio line brushes and the fact that they are $3 at target is amazing and any brush Target doesn’t carry you can find online at http://www.eyeslipsface.com.

All in all the drugstore is winning this month I guess lol.

Of course my Naked 2 palette is my staple eyeshadow palette. I grab that and my Naked Basics palette almost all the time and especially when I’m working I use it on brides all the time. It just works so well.

The only none beauty favorite I have is my iPad mini. I love this little bug. I had the bigger iPad 2 and I got rid of it and got the mini because it fit so much better in my purse or bag and works just fine for me. I use it mainly for blogging on the go, posting photos or as my portfolio for meetings and potential clients. I especially love it because it syncs with my iPhone so I have everything right there on either one. I’m just an Apple geek I guess lol.

Well dolls that’s all for my July favorites.

RIP Angel

I would just like to take the time and say RIP to Talia Joy. She fought hard and ended her battle with cancer at 11:22 am.

Prayers go out to her family and in the hopes we can fight to end cancer one day. Talia was an inspiration and such a sweetheart with so much spunk and excitement for the beauty community.

Let’s all take a moment and remember this beautiful angel. I think Talia would definitely agree with my closing today. :0)

Hair/Makeup Portfolio Shoot

Hello everyone. So I figured I would show you guys what I was up to this weekend. I did a portfolio shoot with my bestie and beauty partner Kryssie.

So much went into this shoot, this was our first portfolio shoot in over a year and my first time getting back into the groove of things lol. We advertised, cast the models, picked the themes, picked the photographers, set everything up, etc.

It’s so much work that goes into a photoshoot that no one thinks of. Behind the scenes people usually are the ones that get everything together and set everything in motion. We had no other help other than the photographers that took the pictures. We set up everything ourselves.

Behind the scenes

20130623-182826.jpg

The hairstylist and makeup artist usually are standing the entire time. We were standing for 9 hours yesterday and it was crazy lol. But we had so much fun.

I will have pictures of the ladies and the photographers information in my next post. The photos are being edited right now. :0)

Hope you all are having a great weekend.

DUPE: Too Faced VS NYX

I’m all for getting the best bang for my buck. Especially when it comes to makeup and clothes. So when I’m able to get good quality makeup at a great price I jump at it. I was looking for a nice deep plum lipstick or Lip stain to try.

So I went to Ulta and after searching around I was directed to Too Faced lip liner. Now I was about to end my search when I decided to check the NYX display again which is where I found their lip liner in Plum.

I swatched both lip liners on my hand next to each other and to my surprise they were exactly alike you couldn’t even tell them apart unless it’s pointed out.

I left the swatches on my hand all day and both stayed on and matte all day but it actually seemed like NYX outlasted Too Faced on my hand. I’ve always been a drugstore more high/low end makeup kind of girl cause I don’t feel like you need to spend a million dollars to look good.

NYX Retractable Waterproof Lip Liner in Plum is the perfect dupe for Too Faced Lip Liner in Perfect Berry and the price difference is even better. NYX is $4 and Too Faced liner is $17.

REVIEW: Kat Von D Foundation and Urban Decay Setting Spray

So I have been scoping out a few products and wanting to try some as well. With reviews from fellow bloggers, beauty gurus on YouTube, etc I settled on a foundation and setting spray that I’ve had my eye on for awhile. So here goes….

Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation

I’ve been using the Kat Von D Lock it tattoo foundation for a little while now. I wanted to give a great review on it and I felt it better for me to try it out first to give a more thorough review.

My Shade:
Deep 66

Packaging:

I think it’s so pretty, I love pump foundations better than the pouring kind because it saves product and its easier to know how much your using and need for your desired look.
The look of the bottle itself is so pretty also. Cute design with a clear bottle so you can see the product and how much is left.

Product:

The quality is great and the coverage is amazing. You can put on a little or for the girls like myself who love a lot of makeup you can put on a lot and still not be cakey. They don’t have powder foundations but I think thats because of the coverage you get from the foundation itself. Hopefully they get a translucent powder just to set it soon but I just use my flower cosmetics loose powder or my NYX stay matte not flat pressed powder and it finishes great.

Price:

This is more of a high end foundation so it’s more expensive than a drugstore foundation. But the results are well worth the price. You can only purchase this online or at Sephora right now that I know of. I got mine from Sephora and I paid about $34

URBAN DECAY Long Lasting All-Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

Now everyone has been talking about and using this product for awhile now. I have been using other less expensive ones but I felt since I was getting the Kat Von D Lock it tattoo foundation I figured I would branch out and try a new setting spray.

Product:

The product itself is nice it’s spray bottle mists the product lightly and evenly on the face with a slight cooling effect. I use it before I apply my makeup and after and my makeup stays in place all day.

Packaging:

The package itself isn’t super exciting but it’s nice packaging and the spray nozzle mists the product out lightly and evenly.

Price:

I purchased mine from Sephora but you can also get it online and at Ulta stores. The price is the same everywhere I think but I paid $29 for mine it was the largest size. But well worth the purchase.

Books and Lippies

20121226-205820.jpg

I love a good book, especially when it has to do with fashion and I love lipstick so it goes hand and hand for me. I watched The Hills with my best friend everyday and I love Whitney Port and Lauren Conrad I want to get Lauren’s book next. I think it was a good shopping day lol. Can’t wait to get into these books and try out my new lippies. I’ll definitely post the swatches on the blog for you guys, have a great night y’all. :0)
